IT has been a whole year since French Bulldogs, Bert and Ernie disappeared from their garden in Twyn Allws Road, Govilon but owner, Nicola Embrey-Jones has restated her determination to never give up the fight to see her beloved pets home again.
Nicola put the twin dogs out into the back garden at around 10.30am on Friday, February 9th, 2018 from where it is feared they found a way out.
Nicola’s step daughter, Alysha, launched an online campaign to reunite the pair with their owners which involved setting up a dedicated Facebook page named ‘Bert and Ernie Appeal’ where the family share pictures and videos of the dogs.
This week, Nicola has posted, ‘Those minutes did turn into hours, the hours did turn into days, the days did turn into weeks, the weeks turned into a year.
‘So we have reached an anniversary which we had dearly hoped would never have happened, one year on from our two sweet fawn french bulldogs going missing. What more can be said? What more can be done? Hearts still torn open, minds still in torment.
‘We look across landscapes, towns, and cityscapes, wondering, imaginations running wild, frozen in time. Other chapters in our lives opening and closing, yet this chapter never closes.’
A year ago, Nicola told the Chronicle, ‘I popped them into the back garden while I went to get changed for work; it couldn’t have been more than a few minutes.
“I’m afraid they might have got out under the gate. A neighbour’s CCTV shows them running together up the road.’
Nicola and others have been constantly monitored dog sale sites, local vets and social media ever since in an effort to discover where her beloved pets have disappeared to.
Nicola said, ‘We truly appreciate our loyal followers who even one year on stay with us sharing information and possible photos of our missing boys.
‘There are beautiful loving people out there who may not realise it, but they may well have Bert and Ernie as their pets right now.
‘All we ask is, if you, a family member or friend have been offered, given or purchased a fawn french bulldog with a black mask around three years old, could you check at a vets to see if they are chipped and if that chip has been modified in anyway in the last 12 months with a past address of Govilon, Abergavenny, South Wales.
‘This would be incredibly appreciated. People buy dogs in good faith and may not know of a dogs true history.’
Nicola and family have also offered a substantial reward for the return of the pair stating, ‘We just want our boys home safe.’
