TV adventurer and all-round action man Bear Grylls lauded Abergavenny scout efforts leading up to their 100-year anniversary.

This year, Abergavenny Cub Scouts, and their national network, mark the milestone with a summer tea party in thanks for past and present Scouts for their commitment and service to the venerable organisation.

The celebrations for Cubs 100 will be going throughout the year as Abergavenny’s scouts and others across Monmouthshire will be joining together for adventures and celebration.

Bear Grylls, an ex-special forces soldier and current Chief Scout, praised Abergavenny scouts and their national fellows.

“I am super proud to see so many young people saying a big Cubs 100 thank you to all the volunteers that make scouting possible. Numbers continue to rise across the UK.

“The big reasons for this are the adventures made possible by the amazing volunteers at Abergavenny Cub Scout Pack.

“Whether it’s the opportunity to be involved with some incredible adventures, learn practical life, outdoor and teamwork skills, or by helping to improve their local communities, young people and volunteers have a brilliant time!”

Abergavenny Cub Scouts are always looking for new volunteers. Anyone interested or looking for more information can visit the website at scouts.org.uk
