The beginning of October will see Abergavenny Light opera Company “treading the boards “ at the Borough Theatre again - this time with a production of the musical version of the much loved story by E Nesbit, The Railway Children.
The society disbanded a few years ago much to the disappointment of some of its members. Following the success of their one night performance last year – Pack up your Troubles the newly reformed society decided to stage a full length show. The Railway Children was chosen, as it is a relatively new show and has not been performed in many places, and is thus fresh and exciting.
Couple this with the atmosphere that the show generates of a bygone era when steam trains raced through the countryside and children played outside rather than being glued to computer screens.
Its music is equally fresh and well matches the heart rending story that so many of us will have read as children.
All these factors made it the ideal choice for the re-launch of ALOC.
Come and join us as we board the 11.11 to Swansea ( poetic licence ) and take a fast view of a slower pace of life.
The show runs from Tues 4th – Fri 7th Oct in the Borough Theatre, Abergavenny
