IT’S known for its food festival and its great eating places and apparently people in Abergavenny are taking full advantage of the opportunity for a romantic dinner for two as the town has just been found to have the one of highest number of ‘active singletons’ in the country.

According to data from dating service, Match, Abergavenny is the sixth best place in the country to bag a date coming in just behind Ascot, Truro, Ellesmere Port, Durham and Skipton

While most would expect large cities to be the best place to search for partner, the list of the top dating destinations is dominated by smaller, more rural areas. The southern towns of Henley-on-Thames, Farnham, Chichester, Cirencester, Windsor and Epsom all feature in the UK’s top 20, while Durham, Skipton, Nantwich, Morpeth, Nantwich and Bridlington represent the North.
