The Abergavenny Writing Festival took place for the second consecutive year at the Kings Arms Hotel and Broadleaf Books, Abergavenny. There were three days and evenings packed with talks, workshops, storytelling and performances.

Following the successful event organiser Lucie Parkin commented, “It was lovely to see so many people – grown-ups and children – leaving sessions utterly inspired and enthused.

“I’d like to thank everyone who came and supported the event. And a special thank you to Christie Residential who have sponsored the event for the last two years and Literature Wales who supported this year, without whose support the Aber Writing Fest could not have happened.”

There was a lot of creating – from Letterpress printing with Francesca Kay, Haiku poetry with Phil Madden, a 24 film challenge with Blorenge Films and Artful Stories with Helen Cotterill.

And also masses of entertainment with readings, talks and songs from Christopher Meredith, Emma Bevan, Robert Penn, Paul Henry and Rufus Mufasa.

There was also a vast range of educational talks and workshops from writing a Radio 4 documentary with Jude Rogers to a marketing workshop at the Chronicle and writing tips from children’s author Nicola Davies and BBC Countryfile editor Fergus Collins.

A special treat from singer songwriter Kizzy Crawford was a songwriting workshop in which the group created a song together. Kizzy also performed on the final night, on Saturday.

“I absolutely loved the Abergavenny Writing Festival. Congrats to the organisers for offering such a varied and dynamic selection of workshops to attend. Seriously I loved it,” said one of the many people who attended the packed programme of events.

The Abergavenny Writing Festival will return during April 2018.
