AS?Abergavenny’s Councillor Maureen Powell handed over the chairmanship of Monmouthshire County Council to Usk’s Councillor Peter Clarke on Tuesday, another Abergavenny woman continued to fly the flag for the town at a county level, with Councillor Sheila Woodhouse taking over as vice chairman.

Elected to the county council last year, Councillor Woodhouse is no stranger to the role having served as both Mayor and Mayoress of Abergavenny and as consort to her husband Chris during his term as MCC Chairman.
