The wall2wall Jazz Festival is upon us - starting with the festival dinner at the Angel Hotel, which is a sell out.

There are still tickets for the great line up of acts at the Melville Theatre, starting on Friday, September 2 with the Kevin Fitzsimmons Quartet featuring Leon Greening - with a set titled ’The In Crowd: Jazz in the Swinging 60s.

The Friday comes to an end with the ever popular combination of Huw Warren’s Trio Brasil and Iain Ballamy.

Saturday afternoon includes TMC Gospel Choir, Gareth Hall and Martha Skilton ’reflecting the 40s’ and one of the world’s finest jazz violinists - Christian Garrick, on stage with leading harpsichordist David Gordon.

The Saturday evening sees a welcome return of trombonist Dennis Rollins and his Velocity Trio, followed by the world-renowned Argentinian group Tango Jazz - who are including the festival as part of their latest European tour.

There are also four workshops on the Saturday at the St Michael’s Centre, opposite the Melville Theatre. Lee Gibson, one of the best vocal teachers in the UK, looks at vocal techniques of performance - aimed at anyone with an interest in singing. Then. Dennis Rollins’ looks at the marriage between acoustic and electronic instruments. This is followed by our Rhythm & Music for Early Years - a must for parents and toddlers. We finish the workshops with ’Take the Samba Challenge’ - instruments provided, no experience needed, welcoming all ages and simply great fun.

Sunday sees a return of the afternoon free-access Jazz Alley at the Market Hall, with fabulous bands, food and the festival bar. Then, in the evening - the great Red Stripe Band headline the festival’s closing Boogie Party - also in the Market Hall.

The full programme and box office are online at www.wall2walljazz.co.uk. Tickets can also be booked by phoning 07958 612 691, or (in most cases) bought on the door.

So, come and enjoy the weekend of September 2-4 with Abergavenny’s wall2wall Jazz Festival.
