Abergavenny’s new McDonald’s restaurant will first open its doors to the public at Llanfoist, today (Thursday).

The new eatery will bring 73 jobs to the area, as McDonald’s franchisee David Balcombe opens his tenth McDonald’s restaurant.

“I am really excited to be opening a new restaurant here in Abergavenny.

“It is fantastic to be able to contribute to the local economy and I am looking forward to getting to know all my new staff members and the community more,” he said.

Mr Balcombe started his career over 17 years ago and now runs ten restaurants across South Wales, including the new restaurant in Abergavenny, contributing £27million to the local economy and employing 930 people.

“Technology has a huge role to play in all walks of life, including our customers’ eating out experience, so the new tech we will be introducing will help to better recognise the way people live their lives today,” he said.

The new restaurant focuses on providing customers with more choice as to how they order and pay, adapting how the food is prepared and served and offering new technological features to create an environment that is welcoming and enjoyable.

The Llanfoist restaurant includes the latest offering from McDonald’s — table service. Customers will be able to order from the new digital menu kiosks and have the option of getting their food delivered direct to their table, taking the stress out of ordering.

“Table service will enable our customers to order at the self-order kiosk, sit down in a designated zone and have their meals delivered direct to their tables.

“We’re sure this will be loved by customers, especially those with a pram or young children with them,” he said.
