HUNDREDS of dead fish found in a marina at Goytre Wharf on New Years Eve died due to the cold weather, ice and lack of oxygen.
The Environment Agency carried out an investigation when the fish, mostly bream, carp and roach, were found on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal at Goytre Wharf.
Tests found no pollutants in the canal that could have caused the fatalities.
Officers are keeping a close eye on the situation as more fish could get into difficulties as the weather is due to stay until the end of the week
