Ahead of this year’s local elections, the Welsh Conservatives launched their local election manifesto for Monmouthshire at the Kings Head pub in Abergavenny on Monday April 11.
Monmouthshire County Council Leader Richard John unveiled this year’s manifesto in front of local Conservative candidates for Monmouthshire.
Amongst the key aims published in the manifesto was maintaining and enhancing services to support children and young people in getting the best possible start to life and education, delivering better connected and sustainable communities through regeneration of town high streets and leading the green agenda by continuing to improve recycling rates and eliminating litter to help protect nature and enhance biodiversity.
Cllr John was joined at the launch by County Council Deputy Leader Sara Jones, Welsh Government Shadow Education Minister Laura Ann Jones MS and Shadow Finance Minister Peter Fox MS.
Writing in the manifesto, Cllr Richard John said: “Over the past five years, the people of Monmouthshire have come together to face the most extraordinary challenges and we’ve done so with enthusiasm and compassion.
“We’re working with our local businesses to improve our town centres and create vibrant public spaces, whilst building sustainable and resilient communities which our residents are proud to call home.
“We will build on our achievements, take nothing for granted, and we will deliver our plan for a green, innovative, caring and inclusive Monmouthshire, with opportunities for all.”
