A FATHER-OF-THREE drug dealer who peddled strong ’skunk’ and ‘cheese’ cannabis from his village flat has been jailed for two years
Police found weighing scales, cash and drugs when they raided the Grove Avenue home of Adam Lewis in Llanfoist near Abergavenny last March, Newport Crown Court heard.
His mobile phone also had "incriminating" evidence of drug dealing, which the 32-year-old had carried out “over a significant period".
Eugene Egan, prosecuting, said messages found on the mobile phone offered drug users ’skunk’ and ’cheese’ for sale, alongside evidence he had offered to supply MDMA, known as Ecstasy, amphetamine and Valium.
Police also found cannabis and some 400 Alprazolam tablets, known as Xanax.
Thomas Stanway, defending, said it was a “wake up call” for the dad of three young children, who was a drug user and sold drugs to fund his habit.
His client was a "class-B dealer" who had offered to supply a Class A drug once "on bravado”, he added.
Lewis admitted three charges of offering to supply drugs, two of possessing drugs with intent to supply and one of possessing a controlled drug.
Sentencing him, Recorder Duncan Bould said he was arguably running a "drug shop".
"There’s no doubt you were offering to supply drugs on a commercial basis,” he told the defendant.
He also approved a Proceeds of Crime order to recover Lewis’ illegally obtained profits.
PC Elliot Morgan, who oversaw the case, said: "Lewis was supplying class A, B and C drugs to people within our communities.
“I hope this sentence deters anyone thinking about getting involved with this type of criminality.
"I want to reassure Monmouthshire communities that we will continue our efforts to fight drug crime, carrying out pro-active operations to target those involved and bring them to justice.
"I urge anyone with information about the supply of drugs in their area to get in contact via 101. Information and support from the public is vital in this area of our work."
