AN Abergavenny dentist has been selected to host a prestigious conference featuring four of the world’s leading dental implants experts at the Royal College of Surgeons in London on Friday January 22nd.
Dr Nigel Jones, who co-owns the Smiles Better dental practice in Baker Street, Abergavenny, will chair the event which features lectures from four of the world’s leading authorities on dental implants: Professor Ziv Mazor, Patrick Palacci, Ulf Nannmark and Roberto Rossi.
More than 250 delegates from all over the United Kingdom and Europe are to attend the event, which focuses on the latest techniques and research to improve the results of bone grafting within dental implantology.
Dr Jones, who is one of the UK’s leading dental implantologists, said: “I’m very honoured to be asked to chair this conference.
“I’ve great respect for the four speakers and the lifetime of work they’ve put into their knowledge and application of it.”
The organisers of the event chose Dr Jones to chair the conference as he knows the four main speakers and is greatly respected within the field of dental implantology himself. The 57-year-old who lives in Abergavenny, lectures internationally and is a lecturer and examiner on the Faculty of General Dental Practice (FCDP) Royal College of Surgeons dental implant diploma course. He is experienced at performing complex surgical procedures and many dental practices around the world refer their dental implant patients to him.
Dr Jones is also experienced in treating sporting-related oral problems with dental implants. In his capacity as Swansea-based Eastside Dental’s implantologist, Dr Jones places dental implants for stars and staff of Premier League football club Swansea City and Guinness Pro12 rugby region Ospreys. He hopes to pick up some new tips at the conference in London.
“Implant dentists are always looking to refine the process of getting our bodies to accept dental implants,” said Dr Jones.
“The work being done by these colleagues is at the forefront of making bone-grafting and augmentation more predictable, so that our patients can have more natural smiles with implant-supported teeth. I’m really looking forward to hearing about their latest advances in implant dentistry.”
