A fundraising page has been set up for the manager of a local hotel after he died suddenly.
Nick Prosser, who was 35 and originally from Ynysybwl, ran the popular Old Rectory Hotel in Llangattock, close to the Gwent border.
Mr Prosser, a husband, and father to four children, died suddenly on Wednesday, March 23 following a blood clot.
Paying tribute to Nick on their social media pages on March 24, the Old Rectory Hotel wrote: “It is with heartbreak and sadness that we share with all our loyal customers & friends that the legend Mr Nick Prosser closed his eyes for the last time yesterday.
“He has left a hole in all of our hearts and will forever be our loving, caring, kind hearted man. His wife, children family and friends will forever remember him as their hero and the Rectory will continue on with all of your plans and truly make it your legacy.”
Staff member Kirsty Williams has now set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for a memorial bench and tree can be installed in the hotel grounds in memory of Nick.
The page was set up on April 1 and has so far managed to raise £1,560 from over 50 donations.
Speaking to the Chronicle, Kirsty Williams said: “Nick was the manager at the old rectory hotel for 2 years, although he worked there for 5 years. He was at the heart of the community and generous through events and fundraising. Staff thought of him as the gentle giant bringing our team together and making us the family we are today.
“Nick has left a massive void in everyone’s life who knew him and having the memorial bench within the grounds of the old rectory hotel gives those a chance who loved him so much a place to remember him and the memories they shared.”
Many people who have donated also wrote messages on the fundraising page paying tribute to Nick.
Cliff King wrote: “A true gentleman who will be sorely missed by many.”
Joanna Jones wrote: “We will love and miss you forever Nick, you truly touched the lives of so many people. The funniest, most honest and genuine guy we’ve ever met.”
Along with the fundraiser for the memorial bench and tree, the Llangattock community, initiated by Helen Burns are fundraising for a defibrillator to be placed within the Old Rectory grounds in honour of Nick
