A LOCAL man has been rushed to Nevill Hospital after becoming trapped in a combine harvester late last night (Wednesday, September 10).

The incident, involving a 56-year-old local man, happened at a farm in Llanvapley, Abergavenny.

A massive emergency team involving several medical experts and the fire service worked tirelessly for four hours to save the man.

The patient is now being treated at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny for injuries sustained to his lower limbs.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said the large team of emergency workers worked extremely well together to help rescue and treat the man.

"We were called at 7.30pm to the incident at a farm near Abergavenny," said the spokesperson.

"We immediately sent one Rapid Response Vehicle and two ambulances with paramedics on board.

"Also in attendance were a Royal Gwent medical team with a senior registrar, a pre-hospital basic doctor and the fire service.

"It took almost four hours to treat the patient and at 11.20pm he was transferred to Nevill Hall Hospital.

"Although it was a terrible incident this is a brilliant example of multiple agencies working together in an emergency situation."
