Mayor of Abergavenny Councillor Tudor Thomas was down in Abergavenny Market on Saturday February 26 to mark the final trading day of M and D Embrey run by Tom Embrey and his wife June.

The business, the only butcher in the market, has been there for 57 years.

Originally started by his wife’s parents, Tom and his wife have run it for 43 years.

They will continue to sell meat from their farm shop in Govilon.

Cllr Thomas thanked them for their dedicated service to the town for so many years in supplying high quality meat and meat products for such a long time to generations of people. He wished them well for the future and hoped their customers would continue to buy meat from their farm shop.
