Pupils of Usk Church in Wales primary school soared to success in the Snowsport Wales schools’ championships in Llangrannog.
The group of four pupils retained the trophy as Welsh primary school champions, with some fantastic individual performances which saw them take the top spot from St. Michael’s School in second and Llandaff Cathedral School who took third.
Team captain Rufus Hiscox stormed to gold in the U12 boys registered category and was the fastest boy overall.
Lottie Williams, who won the British and Welsh U10 championships earlier this summer, secured gold in the U10 girls’ category.
Fellow classmate Harry McKenna had a strong performance to take gold in the U12 boys unregistered category. And the competition’s youngest male competitor at only six years old, Sonny Williams, won the title as U8 champion.
The team all train with Pontypool Ski Racing and have made their mark on the racing circuit this summer.
Team manager, Sara Jones, said: “The Welsh schools’ championships are a fantastic opportunity for the children to compete as a team, and have a lot of fun.
‘‘We are really grateful for the support of their teachers, and headteacher Mrs Evans, as well as the sponsorship for their team kit from Usk based business MEC Engineering.”
