Local charity Mind Monmouthshire is committed to promoting good mental health and challenging the stigma and discrimination faced by those who live with the various conditions encompassed by the term ‘mental health’.
Members of the team will be highlighting these issues through a number of activities this week in Abergavenny town centre.
On Tuesday (May 17) they will be manning a market stall outside Abergavenny Borough Theatre - offering members of the public slices of cake and conversation and giving away small items like stress balls, mobile phone holders, balloons and bookmarks branded with the Mind Monmouthshire logo and carrying contact details.
In return, people were asked to complete a short Yes/No survey to help Mind evaluate how people see mental health and the related services within Abergavenny.
On Wednesday, the team will be in the main street, handing out leaflets and engaging with members of the public; encouraging people to consider mental health and the impact that this may have on lives, either directly or indirectly.
The team, who will be wearing blue t-shirts with mental health slogans embossed on the chest, are hoping people will stop and chat.
Finally, on Thursday, the offices in Cross Street will be offering taster sessions in such areas as Rational and Irrational Thoughts, Body Scan Relaxation, Challenging Perceptions and Benefits.
