WAITROSE in Abergavenny is set to undergo a multi-million pound makeover, with work due to start in the store on Sunday, September 18.
The ten week transformation will be completed by Saturday, November 26 with the branch closing for the final six days whilst the finishing touches are put in place.
As well as boasting a spacious new layout that's been designed to save shoppers time by helping them to find products quickly and more easily, the store will offer more than 3,000 additional products across all sections of the supermarket.
It will also include an extended homeware section stocking fashion accessories, baby clothing, audio products and cookware and a brand new delicatessen counter and enlarged meat and fish counters.
Customers will also be able to take advantage of the relocated Waitrose new-style café, which will serve freshly prepared quality produce sourced from the shop floor. The café will have differing menus for breakfast and lunch, whilst recipe cards will also give diners the opportunity to buy the ingredients for each dish in store and cook the meals themselves at home.
Tim Wingrove, Waitrose Abergavenny Branch Manager, said, "This is a very exciting time for both us and our customers as we are about to completely transform the Abergavenny store. The new layout and increased range of products and services will really add to our customers' shopping experience, whilst the new café will provide the perfect place to refuel."
Further improvements to Waitrose Abergavenny include, extended opening hours from 8am daily (formerly 8.30am) Monday to Saturday and a new browsing time from 9.30am Sunday (formerly 10am), the introduction of four self-scan checkouts to speed-up the checkout process and new three-sided promotional ends on the ends of aisles which will mean the branch can have more items on promotion
