A TRUE ‘Son of the land’ took over the mantle of patron of King Henry VIII School Former Pupil’s Association at the annual dinner in the Angel Hotel last week.
David Spencer is described as a Welshman whose love for his country and passion for landscaping have guided his life. David is now chair of Llantilio Pertholey Community Council and also serves as a governor of Ysgol y Fenni, Abergavenny’s Welsh medium primary school.
David takes over from Tim Richards, born in Abertillery 90 years ago and moved to Llanfoist in 1930 when his father was appointed rector of Llanfoist and vicar of Llanellen.
In his address, the Association’s president, Anthony Davies thanked the committee for a year of hard work that had seen the organisation continue and grow.
