The Pump Track at Gilwern Playing Fields has been significantly upgraded over the last few months and was officially opened recently.

Cllr Richard Dixon, chair of Llanelly Community Council welcomed everyone to the occasion and asked Cllr Grahame Nelmes, who had led the discussions and consultations on the Community Plan in which improved facilities for the young was prominent, to open the track.

In attendance were: Peter Fox MS and Cllr Richard John, Leader of Monmouthshire County Council, together with local county and community councillors and local residents.

The upgraded track was designed and constructed by Beddau-based Trailcraft and Shaun Bevan, a director of Trailcraft, was on hand during the morning to give advice and guidance to the many local users of the track.

The track was funded by Llanelly Community Council with help from a grant from Monmouthshire County Council and will prove a superb addition to the recreational facilities at Gilwern.

The Track is the latest improvement in the play equipment in Gilwern and the council hopes now to turn its attention over the next year to its multi use games area (MUGA) and to the other children’s play equipment on the fields.
