STAFF at Abergavenny’s Welsh medium primary school, Ysgol Gymraeg y Fenni have become stars of their own music video in an effort to keep in contact with pupils and parents during lockdown.
Families who have now been away from the school gates for more than five weeks were delighted by the Facebook video of the entire school staff miming to Harbwr Ddiogel (Safe Haven) by Welsh singer Elin Fflur.
The video was the brain child of the school’s headteacher Sarah Oliver.
“We started distance learning the minute we closed, and it’s been very successful.
‘‘The children have engaged brilliantly and the staff are working flat out but I woke up one morning last week and decided we needed to inject a bit of fun into the proceedings since our school is usually such a fun place to be,” she explained.
“The song Harbwr Ddiogel is a favourite and the staff got on board immediately.
‘‘The video’s had over three thousand views already so I hope it’s brought a laugh to everyone who’s seen it.
“ Most of all, I hope our fabulous children and their families know that we’re thinking about them.
‘‘The next one is in hand.... watch this space,” said Ms Oliver.
