Commuters were delayed as the A449 was brought to a standstill by a collision this morning.

The accident occurred on the southbound carriageway but caused delays for those travelling in both directions as officers worked at the scene during the morning rush hour. Police were seen diverting traffic away from the central reservation and into the left-hand lane on both sides of the road.

Gwent police confirmed they were in attendance, and said:

“We received a report of a road traffic collision on the A449, from Raglan towards Usk, at around 7.50am on Monday 17th March.”

“Officers attended alongside paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service. A man was treated for minor injuries. The collision involved one car.”
