DESPITE the slate grey skies and dodgy downpours that threatened to ruin proceedings from the kick-off, the first day of the Abergavenny Food Festival was alive and swarming with the usual crowd of culinary connoisseurs looking for a bite to eat and a glass of something or two to wet their whistle.
