ABERGAVENNY Women FC will kick-off a new era on Sunday when they host Kidderminster Harriers in a pre-season friendly.
Following the departure of the Jeremiah family, club captain Ceri Hudson has stepped up to be joint head coach alongside fellow player Laura Davies.
Hudson and Davies will be supported by Jack Priestnall.
It’s been a busy month for the club with successful open training sessions, and an impressive victory in the St Michael’s Hospice six-a-side tournament in Hereford.
Abergavenny won the tournament by beating Sunday’s visitors Kidderminster in the final and the players donated the £180 prize to the hospice.
The club have begun the processes of building a player pathway for the progression of girls and women competing in football and are pleased to announce a new under 14 side for 2019/20.
The club aim to connect with all grassroots clubs across Monmouthshire and the surrounding areas to inspire the next generation.
Hudson and Davies’s first competitive contest in charge is a League Cup match against Llandudno at Pen-Y-Pound on September 1 before the Welsh Premier League season opener against Cardiff City at home on September 8.
The club are actively looking for players, goalkeeping coach, physio and volunteers for the season as well as sponsors to support the club. For more info email [email protected] or check out the club’s social media pages.
