KHS Former Pupils held their annual tournament at the Monmouthshire Golf Club and once again received a warm welcome on a course in excellent condition.
It was positive to see some new entrants and the return of some familiar faces, with 24 golfers taking part.
The standard of golf played was good from most, with the prizes keenly contested.
James Hobson overcame the flu to put in a good performance and claim the R.J. Lewis Tankard with 30 points.
The Powella Cup was won by Steve Lesbirel with a solid 31 points. Geoff Morris continued his recent fine form with an impressive 37 points to claim the Gwenlan Trophy.
The H.W Newcombe Pairs Trophy was won by Richard Lewis and Jay Detheridge with an unbeatable 45 points. Jay had an exceptional afternoon, also winning the Vaughan Tankard with a score of 37 points off a handicap of two, the longest drive and the Peter Williams Trophy for golfer of the day.
There was a notable performance from debutant Joey Davies who claimed a closest to the pin and a birdie two. Leighton Morris also featured after starting well with a closest to the pin on the second hole, only for form to fade away and end up claiming the best endeavour prize, which was kindly sponsored by Anthony Green.
For the evening dinner the golfers were joined by five former pupil committee members, whose support for the event is appreciated.
David Evans again kept everyone entertained for the evening. President Anthony Davies awarded the prizes and selected the winner of the best joke, which was won by Steve Hudd. The golf event is held annually and all KHS former pupils are welcome to attend, for more information please contact Jonathan Davies at [email protected].
